Chinese mainland reports 21 new confirmed COVID-19 cases

Chinese health authorities on Friday said that 21 new COVID-19 cases were reported on the Chinese mainland on Thursday, of which 15 were domestically transmitted and six were imported, with no additional deaths.

Thirteen of the domestically transmitted cases were registered in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and another two in northeast China’s Liaoning Province, the National Health Commission said in its daily report.

Beijing registered no new infections on Thursday as it observed 18 straight days with no new cases. The capital city lowered its emergency response level to COVID-19 on Monday.

Also on Thursday, 43 new asymptomatic cases were reported on the mainland.

There were 243 active cases including 12 critical on Chinese mainland as of Thursday, with one suspected cases. 

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stands at 83,750 and the cumulative death toll at 4,634, with 204 asymptomatic patients under medical observation.
