The Chinese mainland reported 288 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Thursday, including 216 domestically transmitted and 72 imported, data from the National Health Commission showed on Friday.

The Chinese mainland also reported 1,368 asymptomatic infections on Thursday, including 1,267 locally transmitted and 101 imported, the National Health Commission said.

There were 2,957 active cases on the Chinese mainland as of Thursday, with 19 in critical condition.

Thursday also saw 214 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals, the commission added.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 252,137 and the death toll stood at 5,226.
