Chinese mainland reports 22 new confirmed COVID-19 cases

Chinese health authorities on Thursday said that 22 new COVID-19 cases were reported on the Chinese mainland on Wednesday, of which 19 were domestically transmitted and three were imported, with no additional deaths.

Eighteen of the domestically transmitted cases were registered in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, with one in northeast China’s Liaoning Province, the National Health Commission said in its daily report.

Beijing registered no new infections on Wednesday as it observed 17 straight days with no new cases. The capital city lowered its emergency response level to COVID-19 on Monday.

Also on Wednesday, 31 new asymptomatic cases were reported on the mainland.

There were 240 active cases and 11 were critical on Chinese mainland as of Wednesday, with four suspected cases. 

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stands at 83,729 and the cumulative death toll at 4,634, with 176 asymptomatic patients under medical observation.
