The Chinese mainland on Tuesday reported 22 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases, including four locally transmitted cases and 18 arriving from outside the mainland, the National Health Commission said Wednesday.

Among the imported cases, five were reported each in Shanghai and Guangxi, three in Yunnan, two each in Sichuan and Guangdong, one in Liaoning, the commission said in its daily report.

Among the local cases, two were reported each in Liaoning and in Yunnan, the commission said.

There were 958 active cases on Chinese mainland as of Tuesday, with seven in critical conditions. No deaths related to the disease were reported, while 70 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 98,546, with the death toll unchanged at 4,636.
