Chinese mainland reports 23 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 3 locally transmitted

The Chinese mainland on Friday reported 23 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases, including three locally transmitted cases and 20 arriving from outside the mainland, the National Health Commission said Saturday.

Among the imported cases, six were reported in Shanghai, five in Guangxi, four in Shandong, two each in Guangdong and Yunnan, and one in Fujian, the commission said in its daily report.

Among the local cases, two were reported in Liaoning and one in Jilin, the commission said.

There were 1,158 active cases on Chinese mainland as of Friday, with 12 in critical conditions. No deaths related to the disease were reported, while 71 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 98,450, with the death toll unchanged at 4,636.
