Chinese mainland reports 235 new local confirmed COVID-19 cases, 597 local asymptomatic infections

The Chinese mainland reported 295 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Sunday, including 235 domestically transmitted and 60 imported, data from the National Health Commission showed on Monday.

The Chinese mainland also reported 704 asymptomatic infections on Sunday, including 597 locally transmitted and 107 imported, the National Health Commission said.

There were 2,962 active cases on the Chinese mainland as of Sunday, with 41 in critical condition.

Sunday also saw 280 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals, the commission added.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 249,684 and the death toll stood at 5,226.
