Chinese mainland reports 239 new local COVID-19 cases, 994 local asymptomatic infections

The Chinese mainland reported 290 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday, including 239 domestically transmitted and 51 imported, data from the National Health Commission showed on Saturday.

The Chinese mainland also reported 1,090 asymptomatic infections on Friday, including 994 locally transmitted and 96 imported, the National Health Commission said.

There were 6,135 active cases on the Chinese mainland as of Friday, with 26 in critical condition.

Friday also saw 381 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals, the commission added.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 246,618 and the death toll stood at 5,226.
