The Chinese mainland reported 4,010 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, including 3,927 domestically transmitted and 83 imported, data from the National Health Commission showed on Thursday.

The Chinese mainland also reported 27,646 asymptomatic infections on Wednesday, including 27,517 locally transmitted and 129 imported, the National Health Commission said.

There were 26,813 active cases on the Chinese mainland as of Wednesday, with 116 in critical condition.

Wednesday also saw 1,826 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals, the commission added.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 297,516 and the death toll stood at 5,232.
