The Chinese mainland reported 3,988 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday, including 3,933 domestically transmitted and 55 imported, data from the National Health Commission showed on Saturday.

The Chinese mainland also reported 29,085 asymptomatic infections on Friday, including 28,894 locally transmitted and 191 imported, the National Health Commission said.

There were 39,358 active cases on the Chinese mainland as of Friday, with 108 in critical condition.

Friday also saw 3,378 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals, the commission added.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 331,952 and the death toll stood at 5,233.
