Chinese mainland reports 31 new confirmed COVID-19 cases

The Chinese mainland registered 31 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, six from overseas and 25 domestically transmitted, the National Health Commission said on Saturday.

Of the domestically transmitted cases, 25 were reported in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the National Health Commission said in its daily report.

No deaths related to the disease were reported Friday, while 35 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals. Altogether, 79,123 patients have been discharged from hospitals by Friday, the report said.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stands at 84,596 and the cumulative death toll is at 4,634, with 271 asymptomatic patients under medical observation.
