Chinese mainland reports 35 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 6 locally transmitted

The Chinese mainland on Wednesday reported 35 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 6 locally transmitted cases and 29 arriving from outside the mainland, the National Health Commission said Thursday.

Among the imported cases, eight were reported in Tianjin, six in Shanghai, four each in Guangdong and Guangxi, three in Beijing, two in Sichuan and one each in Henan and Yunnan, the commission said in its daily report.

Among the local cases, five were reported in Liaoning, and another one in Yunnan, the commission said.

There were 1,233 active cases on Chinese mainland as of Wednesday, with 16 in critical conditions. No deaths related to the disease were reported, while 59 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 98,403, with the death toll unchanged at 4,636.
