Chinese mainland reports 36 new confirmed COVID-19 cases

The Chinese mainland registered 36 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, six from overseas and 30 domestically transmitted, the National Health Commission said on Tuesday.

Of the domestically transmitted cases, 28 were reported in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and two in Liaoning Province, the National Health Commission said in its daily report.

No deaths related to the disease were reported Monday, while 17 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals. Altogether, 79,030 patients have been discharged from hospitals by Monday, the report said.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stands at 84,464 and the cumulative death toll is at 4,634, with 264 asymptomatic patients under medical observation.
