Chinese mainland reports 38 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 7 locally transmitted

The Chinese mainland on Sunday reported 38 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases, including seven locally transmitted cases and 31 arriving from outside the mainland, the National Health Commission said Monday.

Among the imported cases, seven were reported in Shandong, six in Guangxi, five in Shanghai, four in Yunnan, two each in Henan, Guangdong and Sichuan, one each in Liaoning, Zhejiang and Shaanxi, the commission said in its daily report.

Among the local cases, five were reported in Liaoning and two in Yunnan, the commission said.

There were 1,051 active cases on Chinese mainland as of Sunday, with 11 in critical conditions. No deaths related to the disease were reported, while 85 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 98,505, with the death toll unchanged at 4,636.
