Chinese mainland reports 4,031 new local confirmed COVID-19 cases, 17,134 new local asymptomatic infections

The Chinese mainland reported 4,079 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, including 4,031 domestically transmitted and 48 imported, data from the National Health Commission showed on Thursday.

The Chinese mainland also reported 17,360 asymptomatic infections on Wednesday, including 17,134 locally transmitted and 226 imported, the National Health Commission said.

There were 43,266 active cases on the Chinese mainland as of Wednesday, with 138 in critical condition.

Wednesday also saw 3,767 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals, the commission added.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 364,017 and the death toll stood at 5,235.
