Chinese mainland reports 4,080 new local confirmed COVID-19 cases, 31,720 new local asymptomatic infections

The Chinese mainland reported 4,150 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, including 4,080 domestically transmitted and 70 imported, data from the National Health Commission showed on Thursday.

The Chinese mainland also reported 31,911 asymptomatic infections on Wednesday, including 31,720 locally transmitted and 191 imported, the National Health Commission said.

There were 37,347 active cases on the Chinese mainland as of Wednesday, with 99 in critical condition.

Wednesday also saw 2,419 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals, the commission added.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 323,686 and the death toll stood at 5,233.
