The Chinese mainland reported 4,318 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Sunday, including 4,247 domestically transmitted and 71 imported, data from the National Health Commission showed on Monday.

The Chinese mainland also reported 25,696 asymptomatic infections on Sunday, including 25,477 locally transmitted and 219 imported, the National Health Commission said.

There were 40,633 active cases on the Chinese mainland as of Sunday, with 106 in critical condition.

Sunday also saw 3,913 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals, the commission added.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 340,483 and the death toll stood at 5,235.
