Chinese mainland reports 5 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, all imported

The Chinese mainland registered five new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, all of which were imported cases, the National Health Commission said on Wednesday.

Of the imported cases, two were reported in Shanghai , one each in Henan, Guangdong and Shaanxi.

Also on Tuesday, 16 asymptomatic cases were reported on the mainland, all imported. And a total of 251 asymptomatic patients were under medical observation.

There were 172 active cases as of Tuesday. No deaths related to the disease were reported, while 4,932 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 90,007 and the cumulative death toll was 4636 as of Tuesday.
