Chinese mainland reports 5 new local COVID-19 cases, 18 asymptomatic infections

The Chinese mainland reported 39 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Sunday, including five domestically transmitted and 34 imported, data from the National Health Commission showed on Monday.

The Chinese mainland also reported 67 asymptomatic infections on Sunday, including 18 locally transmitted and 649 imported, the National Health Commission said.

There were 548 active cases on the Chinese mainland as of Sunday, with two in critical condition.

Sunday also saw 77 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals, the commission added.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 225,565 and the death toll stood at 5,226.
