Chinese mainland reports 50 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 38 locally transmitted

The Chinese mainland on Friday reported 50 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 38 locally transmitted cases and 15 arriving from outside the mainland, the National Health Commission said Saturday.

Of local cases, 17 were detected in Gansu, 11 in Inner Mongolia, six in Beijing, three in Ningxia and one in Yunan.

Of the imported cases, three were reported in Shanghai, two each in Fujian and Guangxi, one each in Tianjin, Liaoning, Shandong, Guangdong and Yunnan, the commission said.

There were 414 active imported cases as of Friday. No deaths related to the disease were reported, while 19 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 96,715 and the cumulative death toll was 4,636 as of Friday.
