Chinese mainland reports 52 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 32 locally transmitted

The Chinese mainland on Sunday reported 52 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 32 locally transmitted cases and 20 arriving from outside the mainland, the National Health Commission said Monday.

Among the imported cases, five were reported in Shanghai, four each in Guangdong and Yunnan, three in Shandong, two in Fujian and one each in Shanxi and Shaanxi, the commission said in its daily report.

Among the local cases, 25 were reported in Liaoning, three in Henan, two in Heilongjiang and one each in Hebei and Yunnan, the commission said.

There were 1,347 active cases on Chinese mainland as of Sunday, with 17 in critical conditions. No deaths related to the disease were reported, while 55 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 98,315, with the death toll unchanged at 4,636.
