The Chinese mainland reported 637 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, including 566 domestically transmitted and 71 imported, data from the National Health Commission showed on Wednesday.

The Chinese mainland also reported 2,399 asymptomatic infections on Tuesday, including 2,322 locally transmitted and 77 imported, the National Health Commission said.
There were 6,844 active cases on the Chinese mainland as of Tuesday, with 18 in critical condition.
Tuesday also saw 140 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals, the commission added.
The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 236,896 and the death toll stood at 5,226.
