Chinese mainland reports 614 new local COVID-19 cases, 1,379 local asymptomatic infections

The Chinese mainland reported 700 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, including 614 domestically transmitted and 86 imported, data from the National Health Commission showed on Thursday.

The Chinese mainland also reported 1,466 asymptomatic infections on Wednesday, including 1,379 locally transmitted and 87 imported, the National Health Commission said.

There were 3,471 active cases on the Chinese mainland as of Wednesday, with seven in critical condition.

Wednesday also saw 125 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals, the commission added.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 232,809 and the death toll stood at 5,226.
