Chinese mainland reports 62 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 43 locally transmitted

The Chinese mainland on Monday reported 62 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 43 locally transmitted cases and 19 arriving from outside the mainland, the National Health Commission said Tuesday.

Among the imported cases, four each were reported in Guangdong and Guangxi, two each in Tianjin, Shanghai, Sichuan and Yunnan, and one each in Beijing, Fujian and Shaanxi, the commission said in its daily report.

Among the local cases, 12 were reported in Hebei, eight in Heilongjiang, seven in Sichuan, five in Liaoning, four in Gansu, three in Jiangxi, and two each in Henan and Yunnan, the commission said.

There were 1,222 active cases on Chinese mainland as of Monday, with 27 in critical conditions. No deaths related to the disease were reported, while 42 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 97,885, with the death toll unchanged at 4,636.
