Chinese mainland reports 648 new local COVID-19 cases, 1,203 local asymptomatic infections

The Chinese mainland reported 704 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Thursday, including 648 domestically transmitted and 56 imported, data from the National Health Commission showed on Friday.

The Chinese mainland also reported 1,305 asymptomatic infections on Thursday, including 1,203 locally transmitted and 102 imported, the National Health Commission said.

There were 4,062 active cases on the Chinese mainland as of Thursday, with seven in critical condition.

Thursday also saw 113 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals, the commission added.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 233,513 and the death toll stood at 5,226.
