Chinese mainland reports 72 new confirmed COVID-19 cases

The Chinese mainland reported 72 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Monday, including 42 domestically transmitted and 30 imported, the National Health Commission said Tuesday.

All of the local cases were reported in Fujian, the commission said in its daily report.

Of the imported cases, 12 were reported in Yunnan, six in Shanghai, three each in Jiangsu and Guangdong, and two each in Heilongjiang, Zhejiang and Fujian, the commission said.

There were 980 active cases on Chinese mainland as of Monday, 12 of whom were in severe conditions. No deaths related to the disease were reported, while 34 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 95,810, with the death toll unchanged at 4,636.
