Chinese mainland reports 8 new confirmed COVID-19 cases

Chinese health authority said on Saturday it received reports of eight new confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland on Friday, among which two were domestically contracted, both in Jilin Province, and six were imported.

The Chinese mainland registered no deaths and two suspected case on Friday.

According to the National Health Commission, 10 people were discharged from hospitals after recovery, while the number of severe cases stood at 11.

As of Friday, the mainland had reported a total of 1,698 imported cases. Of the cases, 1,652 had been discharged from hospitals after recovery and three were in severe condition, said the commission.

Also on Friday, 13 new asymptomatic COVID-19 cases were reported on the mainland, including one imported. The commission said 561 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation, including 30 from abroad.
