Chinese mainland reports 81 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 61 locally transmitted

The Chinese mainland reported 81 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, including 61 domestically transmitted and 20 imported, the National Health Commission said Thursday.

Of the locally transmitted cases, 38 were reported in Jiangsu, 10 in Hubei, seven in Hunan, three each in Henan and Yunnan, the commission said in its daily report.

Of the imported cases, five each were reported in Shanghai, Guangdong and Yunnan, three in Guangxi, one each in Fujian and Sichuan, the commission said.

There were 1,836 active cases on Chinese mainland as of Wednesday, 60 of whom were in severe conditions. No deaths related to the disease were reported, while 34 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 94,161 and the cumulative death toll was 4,636 as of Wednesday.
