Chinese mainland reports 87 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 55 locally transmitted

The Chinese mainland reported 87 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, including 55 domestically transmitted and 32 imported, the National Health Commission said Wednesday.

Among the imported cases, 15 were reported in Shanghai, five in Beijing, four in Shandong, two each in Guangdong, Guangxi and Sichuan, and one each in Fujian and Yunnan, the commission said in its daily report.

Of the local cases, 33 were reported in Henan, 14 in Tianjin, seven in Guangdong and one in Beijing, the commission said.

There were 3,454 active cases on Chinese mainland as of Tuesday, with 15 in critical conditions. No deaths related to the disease were reported, while 163 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 105,345, with the death toll unchanged at 4,636.
