The Chinese mainland on Friday reported 89 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 70 locally transmitted cases and 19 arriving from outside the mainland, the National Health Commission said Sunday.

Among the imported cases, five each were reported in Tianjin and Shanghai, two each in Shandong, Sichuan and Yunnan, one each in Liaoning, Guangdong and Guangxi, the commission said in its daily report.

Among the local cases, 60 were reported in Liaoning, three in Henan, two each in Heilongjiang, Jiangxi and Yunnan, one in Sichuan, the commission said.

There were 1,350 active cases on Chinese mainland as of Saturday, with 19 in critical conditions. No deaths related to the disease were reported, while 48 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 98,263, with the death toll unchanged at 4,636.
