Jakarta (People’s Daily) - China on Tuesday sent medical supplies to Indonesia to support the Southeast Asian country’s efforts to contain the COVID-19, according to the Chinese embassy in Jakarta.

The supplies, including testing kits, protective gear and medical equipment, boarded a plane in Shanghai on Tuesday.

The embassy said the Chinese government and Chinese people are grateful for Indonesia’s support and solidarity when the coronavirus first broke out in China.

“The Chinese government and Chinese people share the pain Indonesia is suffering and have decided to support Indonesia’s fight against the COVID-19 by sending these supplies,” the embassy said in a statement.

The COVID-19 has reached over 20 Indonesian provinces, with nearly 600 confirmed cases.
