Wang Wenbin, spokesperson of Chinese Foreign Ministry, confirmed during Tuesday’s regular media briefing that two batches of Chinese peacekeepers to Lebanon have carried out a UN mission since last Sunday to clean up and reconstruct the Lebanese capital after a massive explosion battered its port in early August.

“This is the first time that the Chinese peacekeeping force in Lebanon has been instructed to carry out an authorized mission across the mission area,” Wang said.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Chinese military's participation in UN peacekeeping operations. In the past 30 years, China has dispatched an accumulative total of more than 40,000 peacekeepers to 25 UN peacekeeping missions, Wang added.
