Beirut (People's Daily) - Chinese peacekeepers with the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) held a China International Night on Saturday in Beirut. The cultural event was attended by over 700 UNIFIL officials, local residents, and visiting Chinese.

The 18th UNIFIL Chinese unit prepared over 800 dishes representing eight regional cuisines from China. The event also featured demonstrations on Chinese tea art and traditional Guzheng performances. 2.png

The foreign guests were exposed to several long-standing traditions and other Chinese cultural customs.

While serving abroad, the peacekeeping unit not only shoulders the responsibilities that come with safeguarding regional security but willingly educate foreigners on Chinese culture, said Shen Yanxi, deputy head of the construction and workers division in Lebanon.

Shen also emphasized that by hosting a Chinese cultural event, it enables friendly forces and locals to gain a more profound and stronger connection with China.
