Police in northeast China’s Changchun city have filed for formal arrest warrant for 18 people suspected of producing and selling substandard medicine, a police’s statement said on Sunday.

The suspects, including Gao Junfang, chairwoman of ChangSheng Life Sciences Ltd., were detained earlier this week. ChangSheng Life Sciences, a major Chinese vaccine maker, is facing national outrage after China’s drug administrator uncovered falsified data from its vaccine production.

China’s criminal procedure law states that the approval of an arrest warrant leads to an indictment.
