Chinese Premier Li Keqiang arrived in the Philippine capital of Manila on Sunday afternoon to attend key ASEAN meetings as part of his five-day trip to the southeast Asian country.

At the invitation of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, Li is scheduled to attend a series of high-level meetings with the leaders of ASEAN to discuss topics including economic development, culture and non-traditional security.

He will also hold talks with Duterte to exchange views on regional and international issues of common concern.

After ASEAN meetings, Li will visit the Philippines, the first visit to the country made by a Chinese premier in 10 years.

This is also Li’s first overseas trip since the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
