CHANGCHUN, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Northeast China's Jilin Province on Monday launched a road safety inspection, after 18 people were killed and one was injured in a road accident in the province Sunday.

The accident occurred around 5:40 a.m. Sunday in Jilin's Fuyu city, when a minivan crashed into the rear of a tractor moving in the same direction, and then collided with a small truck coming from the opposite side.

Local authorities have organized 10 comprehensive inspection teams to carry out the road safety inspection in different areas of the province.
