Chinese shares and Hushen 300 index futures open higher Tuesday

BEIJING, March 19 (Xinhua) - Chinese stocks opened higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.11 percent to open at 3,099.90 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index opened 0.01 percent higher at 9,844.45 points.  

The Hushen 300 index futures opened higher on Tuesday, as the contract for settlement in April 2019 opened 0.40 percent higher at 3,868.60 points.

The May 2019 contract opened 0.54 percent higher at 3,878.40 points. The June 2019 contract opened 0.50 percent higher at 3,873.00 points. The September 2019 contract opened 0.49 percent higher at 3,853.00 points.

The stock-index contracts, agreements to buy or sell the blue-chip Hushen 300 Index at a preset value on an agreed date, are designed to allow investors to bet on and profit from either gains or declines in the market.

The index futures were launched at the China Financial Futures Exchange and started trading from April 16, 2010. The CFFEX has set the base value for all the four contracts at 3,399 points.
