Beijing (People's Daily) - Chinese Vice-Premier Liu He will visit Germany and attend the 8th Hamburg Summit: China Meets Europe at the invitation of Olaf Scholz, German Federal Minister of Finance and Vice Chancellor, China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said on Tuesday.

“During his visit to Germany, Liu will meet with German leaders to exchange views on China-Germany pragmatic cooperation, China-EU relations and international and regional issues of common concern,” said Geng Shuang, the spokesperson for MFA.

“In addition, Liu will also attend the 8th Hamburg Summit and deliver a keynote speech. He will also have extensive exchanges with high-level European and German representatives, the Mayor of Hamburg and other people from all walks of life,” Geng added.

“In recent years, China-German relations have maintained a high level of development momentum. High-level exchanges have been frequent, political mutual trust has been continuously improved, pragmatic cooperation has achieved remarkable results, and interaction and coordination in international and regional affairs have become closer.

“Under the current international situation, as big responsible countries and all-round strategic partners, it is necessary for China and Germany to further strengthen coordination and cooperation, work together to maintain multilateralism and the free trade system, promote an open world economy, and make the world more stable.

“The Chinese side looks forward to further enhancing the political and strategic mutual trust between China and Germany through Liu's visit to Germany, and strengthen all-round cooperation between the two sides at the bilateral, China-Europe and global levels, especially deepening the pragmatic cooperation and industrial innovation cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, finance, manufacturing and digitalization between China and Germany and China and Europe,” said Geng at the regular press conference.
