Yang Kexin, from China’s Guizhou Province, has traveled into the Gobi Desert hundreds of times in the last five years and collected some 600 meteorites, collectively weighing more than 400 kg (881 lbs.).

Her dedication and hard work, along with more than 300 meteorites she found during her travels, are now on display at a museum in Guizhou, according to the China News Service.

In 2012, Yang’s work brought her to Xinjiang Province in northwest China. During this time, she noticed the area was full of colorful, interestingly-shaped meteorites. This was how Yang started her hobby of collecting meteorites.

Yang would go into the desert every weekend and holiday to collect more meteorites, especially ones that she deemed to be the most fascinating. With every new discovery, her interest in her new hobby grew.

In 2017, Yang brought her collection back to her hometown, including one she named “Tianwailaike” (“Extraterrestrial”).

With help from a friend, Yang recently opened a museum dedicated to meteorites.
