China said the success of the fifth edition of China International Import Expo (CIIE) would be a highlight of global economic recovery on Wednesday.
Spokesperson of China's Foreign Ministry Zhao Lijian made the remarks ahead of the 5th CIIE, which will be held from November 5 to 10 in the Eastern Chinese metropolis of Shanghai.
The CIIE is a major initiative by the China's government to firmly support trade liberalization, economic globalization, and the opening-up of markets. This year, 145 countries, regions, and international organizations will participate in the exhibition, according to organizers.
"The 5th CIIE is the first major international exhibition organized by China since the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. According to what organizers for the event said at a press conference yesterday, this edition will feature more participating countries, diverse better quality items, and all kinds of activities on the sidelines of the expo," said Zhao.
"We wish the 5th CIIE total success and hold the belief that its success will become one of the major highlights driving worldwide economic recovery."
