New York (People’s Daily) – China's Consinee Group, the country’s largest spinner and exporter of cashmere yarn, held its debut runway fashion show “Into the Lines” at the Cipriani Hotel Ballroom in New York on Wednesday. More than 400 players including US fashion representatives and industry experts attended the event.

The cashmere company, founded in 1999 and headquartered in the port city of Ningbo, in Zhejiang Province, is the country’s only large-scale textile yarn manufacturer that uses the latest in imported automation technology. At present, company produces and sells nearly 10,000 tons of high-grade yarns and fabrics, including cashmere and other raw materials, of which 100 percent cashmere yarns exceed 2,000 tons, accounting for roughly 15 percent of the world's cashmere production materials.

During the fashion show that featured mysterious and energetic music, some 99 knitted items designed by a variety of designers were unveiled on 100-foot runway built under Cipriani's 70-foot dome, which provided the industry peers and brand reps from around the world.

The cashmere yarn company has expanded a number of top European and American brands over the past 20 years such as Calvin Klein, Burberry, Mike Goss, Hugo Boss and Maxima.

"Out of every seven cashmere items sold in the world, one is made by our company,” said Consinee Chairman Boris Xue, Xue explained the show was more of an in-depth observation of self-power, an interpretation of freedom, trying to highlight the other plasticity qualities of cashmere treasures in a context closer to the future.

“We have a traditional Chinese saying, ‘a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step,’ and I still remember in the early days when I started knocking on the doors of US brands with little English speaking abilities and a suitcase of my cashmere – I ended up out in the cold. But I have always believed that as long as we continue to improve the quality and stay positive, doors will open for win-win partnerships,” recalled Xue.
