China's Embassy to Canada on Saturday asked Canada's health department to correct an advisory stating that a Shanghai-based masks supplier was selling counterfeit N95 masks in Canada, after an investigation showed the supplier's masks had not been exported to Canada.

Canadian authorities issued an alert on July 6 claiming that Shanghai Lansheng Light Industrial Products, under the name Shanghai Dasheng Health Products Manufacture Co, was selling "falsely labelled products that may not provide the stated protection."

Health Canada directed the company to "stop sale and recall the product," and the department was working with the Canada Border Services Agency to prevent the importation of the product, according to the government of Canada's website.

An investigation by China has found that Shanghai Lansheng has not exported masks produced by Shanghai Dasheng to Canada, nor has it received any instructions from the Canadian authorities, said the Chinese Embassy on its website on Saturday.

The embassy says the Canadian authorities have confirmed none of the masks have been imported to Canada and it asked Canada to correct the apparent semantics of the advisory.

"In the attitude of seeking truth from facts, we are willing to keep communicating with Canada on specific issues, clarify facts and properly resolve problems," said the embassy, reiterating that China has always attached great importance to the quality of exported products.

While the domestic outbreak the COVID-19 has been largely eased, China has been actively participating and contributing to the prevention and control of the pandemic around the globe.

China's textile exports, including masks, rose 32.4 percent in the first half of the year, while exports of medical materials and medicines rose 23.6 percent and 46.4 percent, respectively, according to the data from the General Administration of Customs.

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19, China and Canada have been supporting and assisting each other in active cooperation to fight the pandemic, and achieved good results. China is willing to strengthen cooperation in the fight against the pandemic with the international community including Canada, the embassy said.
