Datong initiates cargo train service to Uzbekistan

Datong city in Shanxi province launched its first China Railway Express cargo train on Jan 27.

The cargo train departing from local Pingwang Railway Station for Tashkent, Uzbekistan transports more than 10 kinds of goods weighing 2,500 tons and worth 25 million yuan ($3.72 million) in 46 carriages.

The loaded goods manufactured in Datong city and nearby regions include machinery equipment, electric cables, glass, bicycles and steel tubes.

Going through the Khorgas land port in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and via Kazakhstan, the train will travel 4,588 kilometers to Tashkent on a 10 day journey, 20 days shorter than transportation by sea.
