Death toll rises to 8 in car accident

CHANGCHUN, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- The death toll has risen to eight in a road accident in northeast China's Jilin Province on Sunday, which also left six people injured, according to local police.

The accident happened at about 3:00 p.m. Sunday in the southeastern suburbs of the city of Changchun, capital of Jilin Province, when a minibus on a road from the downtown area to Shuangyang District collided with a concrete tanker truck.

As of about 9:00 p.m., eight people were dead in the accident and the six injured had been under emergency treatment in hospital.

Further investigation is underway.
