Li Huanan, deputy Party chief of Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong Province is being investigated for serious violations of discipline and law, an official statement said Tuesday.

Li, 59, deputy secretary of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, is also Shenzhen's Secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission and director of the city's social work committee, the city's supervisory commission announced on its website.

He has taken the job as the city's deputy party chief since May 2015.
