Documentary series about traditional Chinese medicine released

BEIJING, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- A documentary series on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is being aired by the state broadcaster and online video platform iqiyi starting Aug. 28, said the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Titled "The Tale of Chinese Medicine," the documentary, the second of the series, tells more than 40 stories between patients and over 50 veteran TCM doctors, with introductions of 51 herbs and 38 ancient prescriptions woven in.

The 12-episode documentary aims to present the doctors' life-long commitment to TCM since the founding of the People's Republic of China, as well as their exquisite skills and occupational ethics, said the administration.

Shot for more than 700 days, the production topped the list of popular documentaries upon its release and currently has a score of 7.4 out of 10 on the video platform.

The first installment of the documentary franchise was released in 2016 and scored 8.6 out of 10 on the film rating platform Douban.
