BEIJING, April 24 (Xinhua) -- Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) administration creates cross-strait conflict, destroys peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait and violates the interests of the people in Taiwan, a Chinese mainland spokesperson said at a press conference Wednesday.

Ma Xiaoguang, a spokesman for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, made the remarks in response to the island's leader Tsai Ing-wen's recent comments involving the denial of the 1992 Consensus.

The DPP administration, for its own interests, goes against the common aspirations for peace and development of compatriots on both sides of the Strait and undermines the peaceful development of cross-strait relations in all respects, which can only harm the vital interests of Taiwan compatriots and ruin the future of the island, said Ma.

Ma stated there is only one China in the world. Taiwan and the Chinese mainland belong to one China. China's sovereignty and territorial integrity have never been and cannot be divided. "That is the status quo of cross-strait relations and is universally acknowledged by the international community."
