Good news! The 87-year-old COVID-19 patient from a popular picture in which he was enjoying a beautiful sunset with a doctor outside a Wuhan hospital can get out of bed now.

After a CT scan on March 12, he gave a thumbs-up to the medical workers: "Thanks for their superb skills and hard work, so that I can get better so quickly. After I recover, I want to play a song on the violin for them. I hope they can go back home safely soon!"

Days before, he was still seriously ill. On March 5, he was wheeled out for a CT scan by Liu Kai, a 27-year-old doctor sent from Shanghai to aid Wuhan. On the way to the scan room, Liu stopped and let him enjoy a beautiful sunset. This moment was captured and went viral on the internet and won the hearts of millions of netizens.

The patient's health has significantly improved and the recent nucleic acid test was negative, according to a latest Weibo post by the Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, a Shanghai-based hospital where Dr. Liu is from.

Wuhan, capital city of Central China's Hubei Province, is the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak. Since the outbreak, more than 42,000 medical workers across the country have been sent to Hubei to support the fight against the disease.
