China's lunar rover studies stones on moon's far side

China's lunar rover has conducted scientific detection on stones on the far side of the moon, which might help scientists find out whether they are from outer space or native to the moon.

The rover has traveled about 127 meters to the moon and is taking a "noon break" as the temperature on the moon is extremely high.

It's scheduled to resume work on March 10 and switch to its dormant mode on March 13, according to the Lunar Exploration and Space Program Center of the China National Space Administration. (Xinhua) 

US to continue talks with DPRK: White House

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said on Wednesday the US would continue to have conversations with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

"We are continuing to have conversations, as the president has said, we'll see what happens," Sanders said to the press.

US National Security Adviser John Bolton said Tuesday in an interview with FOX Business Network that the US would see whether the DPRK was still serious about negotiations and was committed to giving up its "nuclear weapons program and everything associated with it."

"If they're not willing to do it... they're not going to get relief from the crushing economic sanctions that have been imposed on them and we'll look at ramping those sanctions up in fact," he added. (Xinhua) 

EU says talks with UK 'difficult' as Brexit impasse drags on

The European Union said Wednesday that "difficult" talks with Britain have failed to break the Brexit deadlock, less than a week before UK lawmakers are due to approve or reject the government's divorce deal with the bloc.

Britain's chief law officer claimed the two sides were holding "robust" discussions on new British proposals.

Attorney General Geoffrey Cox said a meeting Tuesday with EU chief negotiator Michel Barnier had been "robust" — often a code-word for fraught with disagreement.

Britain is due to leave the bloc on March 29. (AP) 

UK police probe suspicious package found in Scottish university

British bomb-disposal experts destroyed a suspicious package found in a mailroom at the University of Glasgow on Wednesday, a day after three London transport hubs received letter bombs.

Police Scotland said it was “liaising” with police in London. It was unclear whether the Glasgow package was linked to three small explosive devices in plastic mailing bags that arrived at offices for two London airports and a train station on Tuesday.

There has been speculation the devices could be connected to Irish Republican Army dissidents. But Dean Haydon, Britain's senior national coordinator for counter-terrorism policing, said no sender had been identified and no group had claimed responsibility. (AP) 

NBA: Curry, Harden to attend FIBA World Cup 2019 in China

Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry and James Harden from the Houston Rockets will attend the FIBA World Cup 2019 in China this September, said a reporter from Chinese media Tencent on Tuesday.

In 2010, Curry played for the first time on the US team, averaging 4.6 points, 1.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.

James Harden represented Team USA in 2014, averaging 14.2 points per game. (CGTN)
