Yang Jiechi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, will attend the 14th round of China-Russia strategic security consultation in Russia from August 14 to 17.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lu Kang said on Thursday that Yang's attendance is at the invitation of Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev.

The last round of such consultation was held in Beijing last July, and was co-chaired by Yang and Patrushev.
