The Cliff Trail Park project in Chongqing won the gold award at the Paris Design Awards 2022 in the International Environmental Design category.

The cliff trail, for which the project is named, is planned for a total length of 22 kilometers in two phases, with 6.3 kilometers making up the main cycle section. It is one of 60 featured trails planned by the municipality.

Located in Chongqing's Dadukou district, the project connects and combines parks and green areas, including Chongqing Industrial Museum, Yidu Ancient Town, Yidu Park and Siyuan Park.

"It connects the historic town, parks, renovated industry site and districts with 16 focal points and 22 entrances," according to the award website's description.

"The mountains, rivers and the terrain drop of the city offer us great creative inspirations," said project director Yang Jing from T.Y. Lin International, the design company.

At present, the 1.5-kilometers main line of the first phase has been completed and is in use. The second phase is under construction and is expected to open to the public this year.

The Paris Design Awards is a prestigious competition that honors innovative design thinkers from all over the world. The awards covers the disciplines of architecture, interior design, landscape design, graphic design and product design.
